YTS Parents,
I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend. Please read the message below as it has a great deal of information.
LOGISTICS
1. Weather permitting we will train as normal this week. I realize this coming weekend is Labor Day Weekend however we will still go on Friday night.
2. When parking for training sessions at WRAL please don't park in the small lot behind the stadium field. This area gets very congested and it can be dangerous with our kids walking/running through this lot. Please try to park in another lot.
3. If you are running late to a training session just have your child jump in with the group so the group is not distracted. The coaches will work to get your child involved in the session asap.
SOCCER
1. A major focus for both our U9 and U10 players is technique. We must develop this foundation so players can control, pass and dribble a ball consistently. We will always spend time on technique in our training sessions.
2. Juggling - Perhaps not the most exciting thing in the world to do. I would encourage you to encourage your child to spend time with the ball away from our training sessions. An extra 15-20 minutes a few times a week can make a difference. We will continue to end each session with juggling.
3. As our league games approach will spend some time in training playing 6v6 to help prepare our teams.
PARENTING
1. I have noticed parents moving around the field to be closer to their child when we break up into our groups. I can relate to this as a parent and have no problem with moving to be closer to your child. However I trust when I drop my daughter off at school she is in good hands. I can't stay in the classroom with her.. encouraging her to answer questions the teacher asks... or tell her to work harder... or pay attention or sit up straight. Soccer is the same. We MUST give our kids room to learn, develop and grow. I truly believe we have a great staff in place to work with the kids.
2. Of course we must be supportive as parents and help our young soccer players grow in confidence. Shouting at your child during training session does not instill confidence. As our season continues I will try and provide information to help us all learn and develop.
3. Today I will be emailing team managers an article which I'd like for each to read.
Thanks for your support. The kids have been working hard in our training sessions. I hope they are all enjoying being a part of CASL and our YTS Program.
Thanks,
Paul

Good Morning
YTS Parents,
A few reminders below:
1. You can check the weather hotline 919-248-9516, the blog and/or your email before you head to training. Our goal is to always make a timely decision on cancellations. We appreciate your patience when the weather fails to cooperate with our plans.
2. Always make sure your child has plenty of water to drink during training sessions. In fact it is a good idea to drink water prior to the session to help prevent dehydration.
3. Please make sure your son/daughter knows which team he/she is on and ideally who his/her coach is. If you are not sure about this please let me know and I will confirm with you. This information is available on a tab on the blog to the right of this post.
4. For each session your child should come with an inflated soccer ball, wearing CASL training attire and again plenty to drink.
5. Game Schedules are essentially finalized. I am sure there will be the occasional change but I am pleased with the way the schedules have worked out for our teams.
6. Once you drop your child off at the session let them be- much like you do when you drop them off at school. This is part of their development as young soccer players. Of course if there is an injury/sickness I certainly understand we need to be flexible.
I look forward to our second week of training and hope the weather cooperates!
Thanks
Paul

Here we go...
Some reminders about training:
1. Please make sure players are wearing CASL training attire- this is the training shirt, black shorts and black socks.
2. Please make sure each player brings an inflated soccer ball and plenty of water to drink. Temperatures are still high and it is important the kids hydrate.
3. Coaches will be present and they will each work with their team. When the kids arrive they can get into their teams so we can get started.
4. I expect the first week to be a bit crazy so let's all be patient.
See you tonight (U10's of course).
Thanks
Paul

No Pay... No Play
YTS Parents,
I hope you all had a good weekend. Please remember we start regular team training Monday August 16th. Please also remember that each month starting in August training fees are due. If you have not enrolled in our bank draft program then you will need to make your August payment asap. If you fail to make your payment your child will not be permitted to train with us next week. The same applies if paperwork is not turned in/complete.
I don't want to spend my time on Monday night asking players to leave the field due to incomplete paperwork/payment issues so please get all of this taken care of ASAP.
Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at paulf@caslemail.com.
Thanks
